Giants stay true to team concept

New York’s approach helped the Giants win the Super Bowl last season and it contributed to the team’s decision to suspend wide receiver Plaxico Burress for one game.

“We want to make sure that the message is loud and clear,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Wednesday. ”We have had success here because of the team concept.  And the team concept means basically that everyone is accountable and responsible and that we don’t let the other guys down.  And that is what we are trying to do.

“We are trying to acknowledge one of our guys has had a violation of a team rule and we want him back and we want him back under very good terms.  We try to do this thing the right way.”

The right way is the Giants’ way, not Burress’, although others might disagree. Burress plans to file a grievance against the Giants to try to reduce the lost pay or rescind the suspension.
